How to Balance Your Health Holistically

#SugarBalancedLiving

Health isn’t just about eating right. Yes, your diet and what you put into your body is massively important, but is it not the only thing that is. There are so many elements of health that are super important to focus on. Your mind, activity, and overall body maintenance are the main facets toward living a successfully healthy lifestyle! The good news is that if you don’t know how to incorporate taking care of these other things into your routine, you’re in the right place. We’re going to be taking a holistic look at some of the things that you should be doing in order to live a healthier life!

Making Time For Exercise

First, you need to ensure that you are making time for exercise. Being a couch potato is not the greatest for your body and certainly not something that you should aspire to. We understand that everyone has different fitness levels - you don’t need to beat any fitness records or push yourself above your level, but incorporating some form activity will be highly beneficial. This might be going on a long walk, it might be going hiking, or it might be completing some kind of workout. It doesn’t matter much, as long as you are active.

Most people feel too busy and pressured to fit time in for workouts. Now, we do understand that you are busy, that you have a busy life, and that you have other things that you need to do, but that does not mean that exercise isn’t important. As such, it’s something that you are going to need to make time for. Try waking up half an hour earlier or going to bed half an hour later just to fit in a bit of exercise - your body will thank you!

Protecting Your Mental Health

It’s also important that you protect your mental health. We know that there are still people out there who think that you should just bottle this up and deal with it internally, but this doesn’t work for everyone. In fact, it doesn’t work for anyone as it will all come out eventually. What did you first think of when we said protect your mental health? Some people will have drawn a complete blank as they have no idea how they can do this. The most simple and effective way to protect your mental health is to remove yourself from situations that threaten it. Now, we understand that this isn’t always possible, but if it’s an option, take it. Taking space from stressful relationships, dynamics, and projects to take time for yourself might be just what you need.

Try doing more of the things that make you happy and make your body feel good - whether it’s an art day or a hike you’ve wanted to do. You are the only one who can properly protect your mental health.

If You Have An Illness

If you have an illness, it may be more of a struggle to watch out for your health - it’s a lot of extra stress. Make sure that you are doing the things that your doctors and experts recommend. Whether it’s the flu or a chronic condition, following steps to protect your mental health is even more important when you’re sick. Feeling physically bad is hard, but remembering that you are strong and positive will help keep your spirit bright and help you focus on eventually reaching any other health goals you’re working on.

It’s important to manage your illness to the best of your ability so that you can live the best life possible. You don’t want to get worse, and you want to be able to do as much as you can going forward, so taking care of yourself is paramount.

If You’ve Been In An Accident

If you have been involved in an accident of some kind that has left you with some kind of injury, disability, or health condition, then you need to make sure you’re following the right path for your physical recovery and protecting your mental health. This might mean that you need physiotherapy -looking after your health now is likely going to be a case of giving your body time to recover from any damage that it sustained just to be on the safe side. If you’re suffering from any trauma or depression as a result, reach out to a counsellor or therapist - your mind is just as important as your body.

You could always try getting a car accident lawyer or whatever type of lawyer you need on your side to help with getting closure, meeting with anyone involved, or even sharing how you feel with family can help you heal.

Getting Enough Sleep

Sleep is massively important to the human body and yet so many of us overlook this. We think that it’s cool to get minimal hours of sleep through the night so we can watch tv or play games, but this is not the case at all. Your body needs around seven hours per night to function at optimum capacity, so it’s time to start working on it. We know that there are times where this isn’t going to be possible such as if you have a newborn, work projects, or college exams but if possible try to set yourself a bedtime, a bedtime routine, and stick to it over multiple days. Turn off your devices, and set up some white noise. Your brain will start to associate these things with sleep, and you should find you’re not staring at the ceiling for hours going forward.

There we go! These are some of the other important things that you need to remember when it comes to being as healthy as you can. We often get stuck on the fact that we need to change our diet to the point where everything else just kind of gets lost in the background. The problem here is that you are never going to be properly healthy if the only thing that you are willing to change is your diet - a holistic approach promotes overall positive lifestyle and helps address the unique goals you have.
